Joseph Getlein

Joseph Getlein, age 94, loving husband of 75 years to Marguerite Kiely Getlein and resident of Beacon Falls, entered into eternal rest March 27, 2013.

He was born June 2, 1918 in Derby, son of the late Frank & Katherine Sheehan Getlein.

A WWII Veteran of the Navy, Joseph worked as a printer for Bacon Printing in Derby and was Past Commander of #597 of V.F.W. in Ansonia.

Joseph was a former special Deputy Sherriff for New Haven County as well as a retired Sgt. in the Sherriff’s Dept. for Dade County, Florida. He was also a member of the Ansonia Rod & Gun Club.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Joseph Getlein Jr. of Hickory N.C. & John Jack” Getlein of Derby Ct., his daughters Katherine Grace & Husband Edmund Ned” of Beacon Falls & Marguerite Peg” Sholey of Winston-Salem, N.C., twelve grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren & several nieces & nephews.

He was predeceased by his brothers Edward & Frank Getlein.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 2 with friends asked to go directly to The Church of the Assumption in Ansonia for 11:00 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery in Derby.

Friends may call on Monday 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at. The Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home, 12 Franklin St. Ansonia, is entrusted with arrangements. (http://www.jenkinskingfh.com)
