Joseph J. Coleman

Joseph J. Coleman, 89, of Shelton, CT, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family following a long-term illness.

Joseph was a proud graduate of Central High School in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and later earned his degree in Electrical Engineering from Pennsylvania State University. He served his country with honor in the United States Army and enjoyed a distinguished 43-year career in the Engineering organization at Sikorsky Aircraft.

In 1954, Joseph met the love of his life, Marie Wielebinski, at the Coleman Ice Cream Company in Scranton, Pa. What began as a summer job for Marie blossomed into a lifelong romance, culminating in a 67-year marriage. Together, they raised two children, enjoyed the company of two grandchildren, and welcomed a great-granddaughter into the world.

Joseph’s greatest joy in life was his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Madge and Edward Coleman; his brother Edwin Coleman; and sister Ruth Vaglivelo. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Marie; his son, Joseph (Jay) Coleman Jr.; his daughter, Lee Ann Jimmie, and son-in-law Gregory Jimmie; his grandson, Gregory Jimmie II, and wife, Danielle Jimmie; his great-granddaughter, Eden Louise Jimmie; and his granddaughter, Alexandra (Lexi) Coleman. Joseph also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews.

Deeply loved by his family, they find solace in knowing he is now in the arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ.
