Joseph “Joe” Andreana

Joseph Joe” Andreana, 86, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 25, 2025. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage.

Born in Gloversville, NY, Joe met Pat during junior high school — a love story that would span more than six decades. After he graduated from Union College, they married and began their life together in Connecticut. Joe started his career with Southern New England Telephone Co. before a brief move to Colorado for work. In 1974, they returned to Connecticut and settled in Oxford, the place they would call home for the rest of their lives.

While Joe was dedicated to his profession, it was his service to others that brought him the greatest fulfillment. He devoted countless hours to the Boys and Girls Club of the Lower Naugatuck Valley and was deeply involved in the work of Great Hill United Methodist Church in Seymour, where he found a cherished church family. Joe also served for many years on the Board of Directors at Griffin Hospital. His efforts were recognized with the Service to Youth Award in 1994 and the Volunteer of the Year Award from the Secretary of State in 2002.

An avid golfer, Joe could often be found on the course, a passion he inherited from his father and enjoyed throughout his life.

Joe is survived by his two children, Michael (and wife Tracy) of Weatogue, CT, and Melissa (and husband Brian) of Moorestown, NJ. He took great pride in their accomplishments, none more so than in the families they built.

Joe’s legacy lives on through his four adored grandchildren: Matt (33), Rachel (28), Ceili (27), and Cailin (23). Though a man of few words, his love for them was evident in the way he supported their every milestone and proudly shared their stories with anyone who would listen. He rarely missed a game, recital, or opportunity to cheer them on.

In addition to his wife, Joe was predeceased by his parents, Joseph Sr. and Teresa Andreana.

A private burial will be held on Friday, June 6, 2025. A celebration of Joe’s life will be announced at a later date and held at Great Hill United Methodist Church, 225 Great Hill Rd, Seymour, CT 06483. The Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home, 12 Franklin St. Ansonia, has been privileged with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Griffin Hospital at griffinhealth.org in honor of Joe’s lifelong commitment to serving others.
