Joseph Louis Manganello

Joseph Louis Manganello, age 50, of Shelton entered into rest on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at Bridgeport Hospital with his loving family by his side.

Joseph was born in Derby on July 3, 1970 son of Mary L. (Schmecker) Barnstien and the late Angelo Manganello and was the step-son of Ralph Barnstien.

Joseph was a Shelton resident for most of his life. He attended Rochester Institute of Technology but learned so much more from his lifetime of experiences. His intelligence and talent had many reaches. Joseph, known by many as Joe Mango, was a renowned Sound Engineer who worked with many local and national bands throughout the years. He also worked with the bands that played at BRYAC Restaurant and Raw Bar in Bridgeport and also worked at Guitar Center in Orange.

He was an accomplished voice and theatre actor. Joseph was the cofounder and coproducer of the Soupstock Music and Arts Festival benefitting the Mary A Schmecker Turtle Shell Fund that took place in Shelton every year. He loved to attend music festivals and was an avid Hot Wheels Collector, but his most prized collection was friendships. Everywhere Joseph traveled, he acquired a new friend who instantly became a member of his extended family.

Joseph was the beloved brother of Michele Bialek and her husband Fred, Mary Kohler and her husband Kevin, Melissa Roshka, Jane Barnstien, Benjamin Barnstien and Christian Manganello. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Friends may call on Monday August 17th from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Riverview Funeral, 390 River Road, Shelton. The family requests that memorial contributions may be made to The Mary A Schmecker Turtle Shell Fund through the funeral home. Friends may leave condolences at www.riverviewfh.com.
