Joseph Milardo Jr., 83, peacefully entered into eternal rest on May 17, 2016, at Griffin Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Pauline Castiello Milardo.
Mr. Milardo was born in Ansonia on Jan. 10, 1933, son of the late Joseph and Anne Ferla Milardo Sr. A resident of Ansonia for most of his life, he honorably served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He began his career as a driver for Rosehurst Dairy in Bethany and later at Guida’s Dairy in Meriden. He retired from Sikorsky Aircraft. Joe was an active communicant of Holy Rosary Church, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister, was a member of the Catholic Men’s Club and a volunteer at the annual Italian Festival.
He is survived by sons, Joseph Milardo III and James J. Milardo of Ansonia, a daughter, Karen Ann Milardo of Derby, a sister, Louise Pelizzari (Paul) of Ansonia, grandchildren, Amanda, Mitchell and Matthew Milardo and Michael Andrews (Amanda) and Carrie Andrews, great-grandchildren, Aaliyah, Destiny, Leo and Thomas, brother in law, Henry Castiello of Ansonia, several nieces and nephews and his canine buddy, Major.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral on Monday May 23, 2016, at 10:00 am at Holy Rosary Church for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with U.S. Air Force military honors will follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on MONDAY MORNING from 8:00 am until the procession leaves for church in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia.
