Joseph S. Pitingoro

Joseph S. Pitingoro, 95, entered into eternal rest on March 30, 2016, in his residence. He was the beloved husband of the late Elizabeth Wargo Pitingoro.

Mr. Pitingoro was born in Ansonia on April 19, 1920, son of the late Angelo and Josephine Sampieri Pitingoro. 

A lifelong resident of Ansonia, he was employed as a union carpenter for several area construction companies throughout his career. A proud veteran, he honorably served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a communicant of Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia and a member of its Catholic Men’s Club. Joe also was a member of the St. Sebastian Men’s Club in Ansonia where he served as past president and a member of the V.F.W. Post 597 in Ansonia. He enjoyed taking walks, Sunday dinners with his family, playing set-back, gardening, visiting the casinos and watching golf and bowling.

He is survived by a loving daughter, Diana A. Musante of Shelton, cherished grandchildren, Christina Guman of Bethany, Michelle Coppola (John) of Orange and Nicholas Musante (Christine) of Seymour, great-grandchildren, Jacob Guman and Anthony and Angela Coppola. He was predeceased by brothers, James and Michael Bucky” Pitingoro and sisters, Michelina Lombardi, Josephine Jessie” Giannone and Angelina Tuccio.

Visiting will take place on Monday April 4, 2016, from 9:00 am until 10:30 am in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. At 10:40 am, his funeral will process to Holy Rosary Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Interment with U.S. Army military honors will immediately follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery in Derby. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Rev. Carlos Garces Scholarship Fund through the funeral home.
