Joseph S. Tichy

Joseph S. Tichy, age 93, of Shelton, entered into rest on Tuesday July 25, 2017 in the River Glen Nursing Center. He was the devoted husband of the late Anna Pawlowski Tichy.

Mr. Tichy was born in Shelton on June 11, 1924 son of the late Joseph and Frances (Zak) Tichy, and was a lifelong Shelton resident. 

He served his country in the Army Aircorp during WWII, and was employed for over 30 years as a machinist at Avco Lycoming. He was a member of the Sutter Terlizzi American Legion Post # 16 in Shelton, the Czecho Club, and a communicant of St. Margaret Mary Church. 

He is the beloved father of Paula DeZinno, and her husband Robert, Joseph E. Tichy, and his wife Linda, and the late John Tichy. He is the loving grandfather of Jonathan DeZinno, and his wife Denise, Matthew DeZinno, and his wife Meghan, Christopher DeZinno, Katlin Tichy, and Joseph E. Tichy, Jr. He is the cherished great grandfather of Claire and Alexander, the loving brother of Frances Turecek. He is predeceased by his three brothers Jeremiah Tichy, Emil Tichy, and Vincent W. Tichy, his sister Mary Ecsedy.

Friends may greet his family on Saturday from 9:30 to 11:00 AM in the Riverview Funeral Home 390 River Road Shelton. His funeral procession will leave the Funeral Home at 11:15 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 PM (Noon) in St. Margaret Mary Church Shelton. Burial with full military honors will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery Derby.
