Joseph S. Fifer, Jr., age 63, of Shelton, CT, entered into rest on Friday, December 9, 2022 at his home with his loving family by his side.
He was the devoted husband of Jayne (Paytas) Fifer of 44 years. Joe was born in Trenton, New Jersey on November 12, 1959 to his late parents, Joseph S. Fifer, Sr. and Rose (Fell) Fifer. He was a valley resident for most of his life. A U.S. Army veteran, Joe worked for Sikorsky Aircraft for 36 years until his retirement in 2017. His family was his focus and he was always on the go working extra jobs to provide everything he could for them while earning multiple college degrees at night. As busy as he was, he always found the time to make sure memorable family vacations were taken, as well as being there when called upon by friends and family to lend a hand.
In addition to his wife, Joe is survived by daughter Jennifer (Michael) Saunders; daughter Joanna (Zachary Mcfadden) Fifer; granddaughter Olivia Saunders; sister Gale Fleming; brother Rickey (Patricia) Fleming; brother-in-law Andrew Church, sister-in-law Jo-Ellen (Jeff) Strole; sister-in-law Mary Jean (Phil) Soltis, sister-in-law Silvia Paytas, as well as his many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Donna Church, his infant brother Wayne Fleming, his mother and father-in-law Carolyn and Thomas Uhlig, brother-in-law Timothy Paytas and granddaughters Grace and Claire Saunders.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at 3:00 PM at St. Joseph Church, 32 Jewett Street, Ansonia.

The Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth St., Derby has been entrusted with his arrangements.
