Josephine A. (Ilardi) Mizii

Josephine A. (Ilardi) Mizii, age 96, a lifelong resident of Ansonia, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, January 10, 2021, at Laurel Ridge H.C. in Ridgefield following complications of Covid-19. She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond Mizii. 

Mrs. Mizii was born in Shelton on April 21, 1924, daughter of the late Peter and Virginia DeMarco Ilardi. A graduate of Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing, she was employed as a Registered Nurse at Griffin Hospital in Derby for thirty-seven years until her retirement. Josephine was proud to have served in the U.S. Army Nurse Cadet Corp and was a volunteer for the American Red Cross. She also enjoyed collecting artwork. 

She is survived by nephews, Joseph Casalvieri of Louisville, KY, Patrick Evans of Virginia and Wayne Shepherd of Shelton, nieces, Patricia Skelding of Virginia and Marilyn Mizii, great- nieces, Julienne Foy (Joseph Foy Jr.) of Stamford and Aimee Johnson (Marcus Johnson) of Alexandria, VA, great-great niece, Ellie Johnson, great-great nephew, Joseph Foy III, best friend, Margaret Obidinski of Prospect and several cousins. She was predeceased by her sister, Adriane Casalvieri and her niece, Janet A. Casalvieri. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral on Saturday January 16, 2021, at 10:00 am (please meet directly) at Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia for a Mass of Christian Burial. Masks are required and social distancing will be expected. Interment will immediately follow in Mount Saint Peter Cemetery in Derby. There will be no public calling hours.
