Josephine A. Santelli, age 83, of Shelton, entered into rest Monday December 12, 2011, after a long courageous battle with cancer, in the Lord Chamberlain Nursing Center in Stratford. She was the devoted wife of the late Augustine “Jim” Santelli.
Mrs. Santelli was born in Ansonia July 23, 1928 daughter of the late Michael and Rosina (Grillo) Scavone and was a life long Shelton resident. She was a retired employee of the former Life Touch Studio were she was employed for many years. She enjoyed reading, camping with her husband, the UCONN Women’s Basketball Team, and trips to the Casino and especially her family.
She is the beloved mother of Michael Santelli and his wife Nadine, Susan DeMarco, Roseann Santamaria and her husband Andre, loving sister of Joseph Scavone and his wife Dorothy and John Scavone and his wife Linda, adoring grandmother of Vincent Bottone, and James Santelli, and also leaves several nieces and nephews. She was predceased by an infant son James Michael Santelli.
Her family would like to thank in a special way the staff of St. Vincent’s Medical Center and Lord Chamberlain Nursing Center for their dedicated care and comfort.
Friends may greet the family on Wednesday from 4 to 7:30 PM in the Riverview Funeral Home 390 River Road Shelton. On Thursday her funeral will leave the funeral home at 9:45 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in St. Joseph Church, Shelton. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery Derby.
