Josephine M. Ortoli

Josephine M. Ortoli, age 95, wife of the late Frederick F. Ortoli, peacefully entered into eternal rest on July 5, 2018 at the Regency House in Wallingford.

Mrs. Ortoli was born in Ansonia on Oct. 3, 1922, daughter of the late Mauro and Lilly Scarpulla, formerly of Rochester, NY. Josephine loved to cook, sew and grow flowers and vegetables in the yard. Everyone was always welcomed at her home and friends were always encouraged to stop in when they were in the neighborhood. Josephine was a charter member of the Holy Rosary Church Ladies Guild, a Red Cross volunteer for over 60 years with the Blood Service Group and a few years with the Disaster Planning Group. She was also on the Board of Directors for the Valley Chapter of the Red Cross. Josephine made hundreds of baptismal robes for babies who were baptized at Holy Rosary Church and used to make house calls to families with newborn babies to give them christening items. She also worked at the Holy Rosary Italian Festival from its inception.

She leaves to cherish her memory, loving sons, Frederick F. Ortoli Jr. (Lynn) of Oxford, David M. Ortoli (Dale) of Wallingford and Ronald V. Ortoli (Naisha) of Sedona, AZ, grandchildren, Jeffrey Ortoli and Taryn M. Fry (Linden), great-grandchildren, Michael Ortoli, Samantha Ortoli and Matthew Thomas Fry, a sister, Sarah Salvati (Joseph) of Rochester, NY and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters, Lee Manno (Leonard) and Mary Scarpulla. The family would like to thank the staff at Crosby Commons, Regency House and Gina, Kathy and Rose from Constellation Health Services.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday July 9, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia.
