Joyce Burz Hogarth, age 90, of Coconut Creek, FL died peacefully in her sleep on April 28. She was married to the late Douglas A. J. Hogarth.
Mrs. Hogarth, daughter of the late Edward H and Violet Wilkinson Burz, was born in Derby, CT on March 23, 1924.
She graduated from Ansonia High School, class of 1941. A registered nurse, she graduated from Grace Hospital School of Nursing, now Yale New Haven Hospital in 1945. She held R.N. nursing positions at Yale New Haven Hospital, the Department of Mental Health of the State of Connecticut, as well as Public Health at Chesprocott Health District, Cheshire, CT.
She was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Cheshire, the Grace New Haven Alumnae Association and a volunteer at the Cheshire Pubic Library.
She leaves daughters, Mrs. Carlon G. Sargent (Pamela) of Lighthouse Point, FL and Mrs. Scott F. Maddern (Jan) of Hamilton, MA, six grandsons, Kurt and Nicholas and Nathan and Jared (Jed) Maddern and Samuel (Sam) and Benjamin (Ben) Sargent, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a sister Enid – Mrs. Louis Z Wilson of Ansonia and a twin sister Jean B. Brown of Branford.
A memorial service will be held at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church at a later date with burial at St. Peter’s Memorial Garden.
