Joyce Perkins Nolan

Joyce Perkins Nolan, age 90 of Shelton, entered into eternal rest on March 27, 2023 at Lord Chamberlain in Stratford after a brief illness. 

She was born in Gordonsville, Canada on February 17th, 1933, the loving daughter of the late Alice Perry Perkins and Jack Perkins and moved from Canada to Connecticut in 1947 with her parents and her brother Eugene. She attended Shelton High School, where her Uncle Carl Tarbell was Principal. 

She was a 1951 SHS graduate and kept in touch with many of her high school friends through the years. She went to the University of Connecticut and Quinnipiac College. She worked for SNET in New Haven and Derby as well as the Shelton Board of Education for many years. 

She married her beloved husband, the late Bob Nolan, on October 23, 1954. Bob spent time in Japan in the Army following the Korean Conflict. When he returned, they lived in Ansonia, Connecticut for 7 years and had two children, the late Noreen and William. They moved to Shelton in 1964 and in 1969 they had their third child, Tracy. Joyce loved to travel, quilt, host wonderful family dinners, was an outstanding cook and baker, and she enjoyed playing cards with her friends. Her husband Bob died in 2020 and their daughter Noreen died in 2005. Noreen and her husband Mike Scoopo had two children, Robert and Michael. Robert died in 2007. Joyce is survived by son William and daughter Tracy (Edmund), and their children Shaye and Brody, her son-in-law Michael Scoopo and her grandson Michael (Fiona) as well as several sister in laws, brother in laws and nieces and nephews.

She will forever be remembered as a loving, kind wife, mother and friend.

Friends may greet Joyce’s family on Friday, March 31st at the Riverview Funeral Home on 390 River Road in Shelton from 8AM to 9:30AM. Joyce’s Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Margaret Mary Church at 10AM. Burial will follow at Mt. St. Peter Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Supplemental Needs Trust for the Benefit of Michael Scoopo through the funeral home.
