Juan D. Melo, age 83, of Derby entered into rest on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at his home with his loving family by his side.
He was the devoted husband of 56 years to Belgica (Andres) Melo. Juan was born in the Dominican Republic on March 1, 1939, son of the late Pedro and Flerida Maria Melo Baez. He worked at Derby Cellular Products for 10 years. He didn’t blink an eye when giving of his time and never said no to helping family and friends. He had an infectious smile and laugh and all who knew him loved to be in his presence. Juan enjoyed listening to music and dancing with his wife. He also was a sports fan who enjoyed boxing and baseball. Juan was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. He also enjoyed playing the lotto. Most of all, he cherished spending time with his family and he was the life of the party!
Juan was the beloved father of Juan Francisco Melo and his wife Margarita, Belgica Lisette Melo and her partner Eglis Ordunez, and Raul A. Melo and his wife Brahyandi, and brother of Manuel Melo, Miledys Reyes, Carmen Diaz, and Dulce Melo. He was the loving grandfather of Stephanie Melo, Richard Gonzalez and his fiancé Stephanie Ocasio, Michael Melo and his fiancé Tarah Thevenot, Jordan Melo, and Jazmine Ordunez. Great grandfather of Noah Gonzalez, Marvel Melo, and Luna Melo, and was also survived by several nieces and nephews. Juan was predeceased by two brothers, Silvio Melo and Amable Melo, and a sister, Josefa Melo.
On Saturday, friends may call from 1 to 2:45 PM at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth St., Derby. His funeral service will follow at the parlor.
