Judith Ayer

Judith A. Judy” Ayer, age 67, of Shelton entered into rest on Tuesday March 18, 2014 in Lord Chamberlain Nursing Home with her loving family by her side. She was the devoted wife of 44 years to Ned Ayer.

Judy was born in Derby on May 9, 1946, daughter of the late William and Julia (Coppola) Karuzie and was a lifelong Shelton resident.

She was a legal secretary at the Law Firm of Cohen, Finn and Sylvester for 10 years retiring when she started to raise her family. 

Judy loved to garden and cook and made her family the best lasagna. She was a former pop warner cheerleading advisor and an officer at the Harbor Valley Yacht Club. She also loved cats and her greatest joy was taking care of her grandson Andrew everyday. Judy loved flowers and would love bright colorful arrangements to help celebrate her life.

She is the beloved mother of Dee Ayer and Bob Ayer and his wife Julie, loving grandmother of Andrew and loving sister of Bill Karuzie. She also leaves her former son-in-law Joe DeVillis.

Friends may call on Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton. Her funeral procession will leave the funeral home on Saturday at 8:15 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, Shelton. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Shelton.
