Judy was born on May 19th 1943 to Olga and Frank Bachman. Judy grew up in Wolcott and graduated from Wilby High School in 1961. She graduated from the Hartford Institute of Accounting with a degree in accounting and attended the University of New Haven, majoring in hotel management. She married George, the love of her life (although golf was a very close 2nd) in 1969. After moving to Shelton she began working for William C. Atwater & Sons Insurance in Derby. In 1976 they welcomed their son Geoffrey into their home. Geoffrey remembers her as a dedicated mother who provided tremendous support and encouragement to pursue his goals. And most importantly, as having a great sense of humor, and brightening the lives around her.
Judy was passionate about golfing. She won a club championship at Race Brook Country Club, and served as the first woman on Race Brook’s board of governors. She also served as the president of the Connecticut Woman’s Golf Association, and volunteered annually for their scholarship program. She was a member of Oronoque Country Club and also served on their board of governors for many years. Additionally, she was a member of St. Margret Mary’s Church, and taught CCD for the church. She also volunteered at The Griffin Hospital.
