Julia Marie Kalafut, age 97, of Shelton entered into rest on Sunday, August 8, 2021 at her home. She was the devoted wife of the late Michael Kalafut, Jr.
Julia was born in Dupont, PA, on May 9, 1924, daughter of the late Alojzy and Apolonia (Twardowska) Nyzio and was a Shelton resident for most of her life. She was an inspector at Chance Vought for many years. Later, she worked as an inspector at Slim Fit Dress in Shelton until her retirement.
Julia was the beloved mother of Michael Joseph Kalafut, III and his wife Donna M., mother-in-law of Cheryl Kalafut and Susan Kalafut. She was the loving grandmother of Michael J. Kalafut, IV, Sheridan M. Kalafut, Sarah M. Kalafut, Christina Kalafut-Nolan, Julianne Kalafut-Batista and Samantha A. Kalafut. Julia was also survived by her godson Daniel Nyzio and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sons, Stephen James Kalafut and Joseph Daniel Kalafut and 13 brothers and sisters.
Friends may call on Friday morning from 8 to 10 am at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd., Shelton. Her funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10:30 am for her Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am at St. Margaret Mary Church. Her burial will follow at St. Michael Cemetery, Derby. Family and friends are required to wear masks.
