Julia Pidlipchak Gavalla, age 98, of Norwich, formerly of Seymour, the beloved wife of the late George Albert Gavalla, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Seymour on March 19, 1916, daughter of the late Trofym and Xenia Fill Pidlipchak. She was a devout and long time communicant of St. Peter and St.Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church of Ansonia. Julia graduated from Seymour High School. She enjoyed cooking and baking and most of all loved to be with her friends and family. Julia will be sadly missed and will always remain forever in our hearts.
Her loving family includes her caring son George A. Gavalla and his wife Toshiko of Norwich with whom she resided, her two cherished grandsons Adam Gavalla and his wife Susan of Salinas, CA., and Andrew Gavalla of Los Angeles, CA., and several loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved daughter Judith Sattler as well as her beloved six sisters Mary Pidlipchak, Ann Pidlipchak, Tessie Muchisky, Esther Youschak, Helen Pidlipchak and Martha Pidlipchak and three beloved brothers John, Adam and William Pidlipchak.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at 9:00 am in the Chapel of the Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank Street (RT.67, across of Klarides Village), Seymour. A Mass of Christian Burial in Celebration of Julia’s life will follow at 10:00 am at St. Peter and St. Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, 105 Clifton St., Ansonia. Interment will be in the family plot in St. Peter and St. Paul Church Cemetery, Derby. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Monday, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Panakhyda will be offered at 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Julia’s memory may be made to St. Peter and St. Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, 105 Clifton St. Ansonia, CT 06401.
