Karolina Maria Szwaja

Karolina Maria Szwaja, age 36, of Derby entered into rest on Thursday, August 13, 2020 at Griffin Hospital with her loving family by her side. 

She was born in Nowa Deba, Poland on October 5, 1983 daughter of Piotr and Boguslawa (Mizyglod) Szwaja. 

She moved from Poland to Derby accompanied by her parents when she was 13. Soon after, she explored the country and lived in Florida, Georgia, and Arizona and ultimately moved back to Connecticut to be closer to her family. Karolina worked as a caretaker for Alina’s Elder Care while pursuing her passion for taking care of others and always bringing joy and happiness to those she cared for. She was a diehard Patriots and Red Sox Fan. 

She enjoyed traveling, spending quality time with family and friends, and was a proud dog owner. Karolina was the loving sister and role model of Michael Szwaja and is also survived by several aunts, uncles, and cousins. 

A walk-through visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth St., Derby. 

Visitors are asked to wear masks and social distance as they walk through, pay their respects, and exit without lingering to ensure all guests can come through the building. On Tuesday, friends are invited to go directly to St. Michael Church, 75 Derby Ave., Derby for her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. Her burial will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in Derby.
