Katherine Hallaman Richter

Katherine Hallaman Richter, of Wallingford, CT, formally of Derby, Ct, was the widow of Elmer E. Richter. She peacefully passed away on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at her home in Masonicare in Wallingford, CT where she resided for eleven years. 

She was born on December 7, 1916, to George and Minnie Vacher Hallaman and she was 104 years old.

She leaves to mourn her loss her daughter Beverly R. Becker and son-in-law Harold C. Becker, Sr. as well as her granddaughter Heidi Strillacci (John) and grandson Harold C. Becker, Jr. (Kristine). She was known as Big Gram” to her six great-grandchildren Grace, Derek and Rachel Strillacci, and Kolby, Bode and Jozie Becker.

She was predeceased by her brothers Frank Hallaman and William Hallaman, and sisters Anna McCormack and Georgia Blake.

She loved her many nieces, nephews and cousins who kept in touch with her over the years. Their phone calls and visits always made her days special.

Katherine was a stay-at-home mom but did volunteer many hours at the Derby Neck Library. She also enjoyed many crafts: crocheting, tatting, sewing, baking and making beautiful cards for various occasions

She was known as Mom” to many, many residents at Masonicare, something her daughter never minded sharing!

As per her wishes there were no calling hours. The private burial in the Orange Center Cemetery was performed by the Rev. Robert Miner, former rector of St. James Episcopal Church Derby. Her family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Masonicare Homecare and Hospice for the excellent care from their nurses and aides.
