Katherine Piascik

Katherine Piascik, 78, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Sunday July 24, 2016, in the comfort of her home. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert Piascik.

Mrs. Piascik was born in Ansonia on July 22, 1938, daughter of the late Alphonosa and Sophie Kucher. She was employed as an elementary school teacher for the Ansonia Board of Education for thirty years until her retirement. Katherine was a devout communicant of St. Joseph Church in Ansonia where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, taught catechism and was a member of the Ladies Guild. In recognition for her devotion to her church, she was awarded the St. Joseph Medal of Appreciation from the Archdiocese of Hartford. She was a very generous and caring person and helped by giving to many charitable organizations.

She is survived by loving nieces and nephews, Katherine Grant, Darlene Breunig, Chris Ann Kucher, Mary-Ann Kucher, Stacey Mentz, Jamie Kucher and many great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Stanley and Paul Kucher, sisters, Theresa Szpanik and Mary Benedict and a nephew, Michael Kucher.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday July 31, 2016, from 2 – 5 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Monday, her funeral will commence at 9:15 am at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Church in Ansonia. Interment will take place in St. Michael Cemetery in Derby.
