Katherine Sanford, age 94, formerly of Shelton, entered into rest on Saturday, March 30, 2013, at Masonic Care in Wallingford, CT. She was the devoted wife of the late Edward “Summers” Sanford, Jr.
Katherine was born in Mystic on February 18, 1919, daughter of the late Peter and Mary Radizeski, and lived most of her life in Shelton before moving to Cheshire several years ago.
She was an executive secretary at Sikorsky Aircraft, where she worked for over 40 years before her retirement.
Katherine belonged to the Sikorsky Friendship Club, and also enjoyed bowling. She was a member of the former Shelton Congregational Church. Above all she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
She is the beloved mother of Jacqueline Amberg and cherished grandmother of Alicia and Katerina Amberg. She also leaves many nieces and nephews, and was predeceased by several brothers and sisters.
Friends may greet the family at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton, on Thursday from 11AM to 12PM (noon). Her funeral service will begin in the funeral home on Thursday at 12PM with the Rev. John Collins officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery Shelton.
