Kathleen M. Silva, age 55, of Shelton, entered into her eternal rest on Monday, September 24, 2012 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center. She was the devoted wife of the late Jay Silva.
Kathy was born in New Haven on February 15, 1957, daughter of the late Peter and Lucille (Rapuano) Buccieri, and was a Shelton resident for many years. She was very active in the Relay for Life Cancer Events and was an avid animal lover who volunteered at the Trumbull Animal Shelter. Kathy also enjoyed going to Mohegan Sun. The one thing that gave her the most joy was watching her beloved daughter dance.
She is the beloved mother of Gianna Silva and the caring stepmother of Richie Silva and Jason Silva. She is the loving sister of Peter A. Buccieri and his wife Linda, and Carol Buccieri. She also leaves brother-in-law Mark Silva, sisters-in-law Cindy Phelan, Marcia Iannazzo, Andrea Amante, and Maria May. She also leaves a niece Kristen two nephews Michael, and Brandon, and countless close friends who supported her.
Friends may greet her family on Thursday from 4 to 8 PM in the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton. On Friday her funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:15 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Lawrence Church, Shelton. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. At the request of Kathy’s family, memorial contributions may be made to The Gianna Silva Scholarship Fund through the funeral home.
