Kelly E. Hubbard Sr., age 59, entered into peaceful rest on August 22, 2022, in the comfort of his home, with his loving family by his side, following a courageous battle with brain cancer. He was the beloved husband of Linda Marcucio Hubbard.
Kelly was born in Derby on December 30, 1962, son of James D. Hubbard of Ansonia and the late Della Ann Closson Hubbard. A lifelong resident of Ansonia, he was a graduate of Platt Technical High School in Milford where he studied the plumbing trade. Following high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1982 until being honorably discharged in 1986. He was employed as a quality assurance inspector at Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford for thirty-six years and served as a Teamster Local 1150 Labor Steward. Kelly was a long-time softball umpire in the Valley area and was selected to umpire in five national tournaments throughout the country during his career. He will be inducted into the ASA/USA Softball Hall of Fame in October. He also officiated high school basketball for Board 10 for fifteen years. Kelly was a die-hard Cleveland Browns fan and loved music, especially Pink Floyd.
In addition to his wife and father, he leaves to cherish his memory, a daughter, Nicole M. Gouveia (John) of Seymour, brothers, James Hubbard Jr. (Ann Marie) of St. Augustine, FL, Martin Hubbard Sr. (Barbara) of Milford, Dennis Hubbard (Linda) of Ansonia, Terence Hubbard Sr. (Laura) of Sebastian, FL and Jonathan Hubbard Sr. (Cindy) of Ansonia, granddaughter, Evelyn Gouveia of Seymour, aunt, Earla Montani of Monroe, best friends, Stephen French of Milford and Carlos Clavarino of Beacon Falls, along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his son, Kelly E. “KJ” Hubbard Jr.
Relatives and friends may greet the family and pay their respects on Friday August 26, 2022, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Saturday, all are welcome to attend his funeral by meeting directly at the Church of the Assumption, 61 N. Cliff Street in Ansonia, for his Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am.
