Lauren R. Chiplinsky, age 67, a resident of Derby since 1981, entered eternal rest on December 19, 2024, at Bridgeport Hospital, with her loving family by her side.
She was the beloved wife of Ronald W. Chiplinsky. Lauren was born in Bridgeport on April 11, 1957, daughter of the late Earl and Elizabeth “Betty” Helbig Richards.
She grew up in Shelton and graduated from Shelton High School in 1975. Lauren was employed at Sikorsky Aircraft for thirty-one years and later as a home health care aid for Always Best Care in Southbury until 2021 when she began her favorite job as a “full time grandma.” Lauren had a huge heart and loved to help everyone. She enjoyed being around her friends and family, going out to dinner, vegetable gardening and was an avid bowler.
In addition to her husband Ron, she leaves to cherish her memory, a daughter, Lisa Ardes Chiplinsky and her husband Edward Mattaboni of Seymour, grandsons, Colton and Waylon Mattaboni, a brother, Carl J. Richards (Cathy) of Ansonia, sisters, Ann Thompson (Audie) of MA and Linda Chappell (David) of Clarksville, NH, as well as several nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Carol Jane Richards, and Michael Babey.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Smilow Cancer Centers in Fairfield and Trumbull for their care and compassion in taking care of Lauren.
