Lawrence Edgar Easter

Mr. Lawrence Edgar Easter, 89, of Derby passed away peacefully on Friday, November 16, 2012 at Connecticut Hospice Program at Griffin Hospital. 

He was born in Bridgeport on October 6, 1923 to the late Edgar Lawrence Easter and the late Rosalie Knapp Easter Rumble.

Lawrence was a proud naval veteran, flying aboard antisubmarine patrols over the Bay of Biscay and the English Channel during World War II. He flew thirty missions as a radio airman, and his military awards included the Distinguished Flying Cross and three awards of the Air Medal.

He was a longtime member of the Derby Republican Town Committee, and long served on the board of the Derby Water Pollution Control Authority, acting as chairman from 1995 to 2003. 

A devoted member of the American Legion, he served as Finance Officer of the Derby post for 12 years.

He leaves behind his devoted wife of 66 years, Dorothy Sherbatiuk Easter, children Gary Easter and Susan Easter Weglewski and her husband William, grandchildren Christina, Sean, Edward, and Julie, and great-grandchildren Amirah and Taben. 

He also leaves a sister, Charlotte Easter Deming, and several nieces and cousins. He was predeceased by his eldest son, Jeffrey Lawrence Easter.

Friends may call on Monday from 4 – 6 pm at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth St., Derby. 

A funeral service will be held at the funeral home Tuesday at 11 am in the funeral home. 

Entombment with full military honors will follow at Mt. St Peter Cemetery, Derby.
