Leonard R. Kirpas, age 81, of Ansonia died March 7, 2011 at Griffin Hospital, Derby.
He was the husband of the late Genevieve Alu Kirpas.
He was born in Ansonia, November 6, 1929, son of the late Michael and Antoineta Danielczuk Kirpas. Lenny earned a Bachelors Degree from Quinnipiac University and prior to his retirement worked as a production control supervisor at Sikorsky Aircraft.
He was a U. S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean War, he served as a Seventh Ward Alderman for the City Of Ansonia, was president of the Ad Hoc Committee for the renovation of Nolan Complex Jarvis Field in Ansonia, recycling coordinator for the city, was a member of The Holy Rosary Men’s Club, and was an avid New York Yankees and New York Giants fan as well as being an avid bird watcher, fisherman and woodworker.
Survivors include two sons Robert L. Kirpas (Rebecca) of Ansonia, Jeffrey C. Kirpas and his wife Maureen of Newburyport, MA. Seven grandchildren, Bobby Jr., DavidJon, Jeffrey Jr., Joseph, Daniel, Matthew, and Mary Kirpas.
He was predeceased by five brothers, Edward, Richard, Phillip, Alphonse and Alfred Kirpas, and two sisters, Helen Fainer and Harriet Witoski.
Services will be held Friday 8:45 AM at THE SPINELLI-RICCIUTI / BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver St., Ansonia, CT followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 9:00 AM at Holy Rosary Church, Ansonia. Burial with Military Honors will be in Mt St. Peter Cemetery, Derby. Calling hours will be THURSDAY from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Funeral Home.
