Lillian D. Sheehy, age 96, of Shelton, entered into rest on Saturday, March 1, 2014, at Apple Rehab Shelton Lakes. She was the devoted wife of the late George M. Sheehy. Lillian was born in Shelton on May 11, 1917, daughter of the late August and Pauline (Kirshner) Gross, and she was a lifelong Shelton resident.
She worked for Oronoque Orchards for many years and at the former Rapps Paradise Inn before her retirement. She was a longtime member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Shelton. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she was also a caregiver for many.
She is the beloved mother of George R. Sheehy, Sr. and his wife Del, Kathleen Petro and her husband Robert, and Elizabeth Markut and her husband Frank. She also leaves six cherished grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was a Gold star Mother, being predeceased by a son, P.F.C. David Sheehy. She was also predeceased by her brother, Robert Gross, and five sisters, Dolores Gross, Pauline Gross, Olga Ruderich, Elsie Kamaitis, and Martha Hill.
The family also extends their deepest thanks to Dr. Farens, the staff at Shelton Lakes, and Father Nick Pavia for their care and support.
Friends may greet the family at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton, on Wednesday from 5 to 7 PM. On Thursday, friends are invited to meet directly at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 183 Howe Ave, Shelton at 11:00 for her funeral service. Burial will take place in the spring in Riverside Cemetery, Shelton.
