Lillian S. Poehailos

Lillian S. Poehailos of Fort Myers, FL entered into rest May 25, 2021 with her loving husband by her side. 

She was a devoted wife for 60 years to Donald P. Poehailos. Lillian was born in Alytus, Lithuania on November 10, 1940, daughter of the late Kestutis & Danute Svelnys. A former longtime resident of Ansonia, she was a Fort Myers resident since 2017. Lillian was a graduate of Ansonia High School’s class of 1958 and then pursued an Interior Design Education at Albertus Magnus College in New Haven. 

She was employed by The Ansonia Savings Bank, Spector Furniture, and Argene’s Interiors before opening her own business, LiliPoe Interiors. She was an active member of the former St. Anthony’s Church in Ansonia and very active in a variety of church activities. 

Lillian was the beloved mother of Peter Poehailos, (Mary), Ronald Poehailos (Maria), and James Poehailos (Hella) and the loving grandmother of Kelly, Amanda, Bianca, Erica, Alexander & Jacob Poehailos. She is also survived by her brother, Leonardas Svelnys of Moses Lake, Washington, stepsisters Peggie Lombardi of Texas and Bonnie Mernitz of Michigan, stepbrother Philip Kolto of Texas, and cousin Algis Svelnys. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Holy Rosary Church, 10 Father Salemi Drive in Ansonia on Thursday June 10, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Friends may attend walk-thru calling hours from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home, 12 Franklin St. Ansonia before the funeral leaves for church. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Holy Rosary Church.
