Lillian (Starr) Blankfeld, age 103, formerly of Derby and Shelton, passed peacefully in her sleep on May 1, 2022 at the Hebrew Home nursing home in Rockville, Maryland. She is survived by her son, Robert of Baltimore, Maryland, and grandchildren Jessica Esteban of Derwood, Maryland and Jeffrey Blankfeld of Arlington, Virginia. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold, and son, Richard.
Lillian was born on June 20, 1918 in Brooklyn, New York. She was raised in New York City, was a proud graduate of Hunter College, and following her marriage, moved to Connecticut where she raised her family. In her later years she relocated to Maryland to be closer to her adult children and grandchildren. She previously taught high school home economics in the New York City and Shelton school systems. She was a former member of the Beth Israel Synagogue Center in Derby and Congregation Or Shalom in Orange. Lillian enjoyed her family, lived independently and maintained her sharp intellect to her final days, and had a keen interest in current events, sports, politics, and world and national affairs.
Lillian was laid to rest with her family and friends in attendance in a graveside service conducted by the Robert E.
