Linda Benanto

Linda Benanto, age 72, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday August 20, 2019 at Griffin Hospital after losing a long courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in Derby, CT on April 18, 1947 to Benjamin and Eleanor (Federowicz) Chudoba.

Linda was a graduate of Ansonia High School Class of 1965.

Linda would go on to marry her high school sweetheart Jim Benanto 50 years ago. A true love story indeed as they would go on to share fifty plus years together and created everlasting memories along the way. Linda was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Derby and a paraprofessional in the Shelton Public School system before her retirement.

She loved reading, cooking, spending time with friends and especially her trips to the casino with Jim. Although Linda had many friends, hobbies and interests, nothing compared to the joy she felt when spending time with her cherished family.

Besides her beloved husband Jim, survivors include sons Jay Benanto (Pam) of Woodbridge CT, Chris Benanto (Liz) of Beacon Falls, CT, grandchildren John, Zack, Samantha, Hannah, and Luke Benanto, brothers Arnold Chudoba and Richard Chudoba (Irene), sisters Joan Douglass and Barbara Angelucci (Lou), sister-in-law Margaret Deegan and her husband Joe, along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by brothers Joseph Kenny, Clarence Chudoba and Zigmunt Chudoba along with sisters Sylvia Serfinowicz and Carol Dalton.

Friends are invited to greet Linda’s family on Thursday August 22 from 4 to 7 pm in the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth St. Derby.

On Friday her funeral procession will leave the parlor at 9:30 am for her Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Mary Church, 212 Elizabeth St. Derby.

Burial will follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Griffin Hospital Cancer Center c/o Developmental Fund, 130 Division St. Derby, CT 06418.

The family would also like to extend a special thank you to Smilow Cancer Hospital and the Griffin Hospital Special Procedures Unit for their devoted care and friendship.
