Lita F. Testone, age 85, entered into eternal rest on October 22, 2012 at UMass Memorial Hospital in Worcester, MA. She was the beloved wife of the late Mario J. Testone and a proud, lifelong member of the Derby community.
Lita was born in Derby on Apr. 11, 1927 to the late Sabatino and Cierica (Miani) DiGianvittorio. She was a lifelong communicant and a very active member of St. Mary’s Church. Lita, “the family historian,” loved cooking for and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, who were her pride and joy. Lita will be remembered as a positive woman who was never at a loss for a kind word and always saw the best in others.
She is the loving mother of Mariann Cosmo and her husband Larry, Michael Testone and his wife Meg, Jeannie Heroux and her husband David; and the caring grandmother of Matthew, Thomas, and Christa Cosmo, Emma and Phoebe Testone, and Jack Heroux. She is also survived by her siblings Frances Simics and her husband William, and Sam DiJon and his wife Norma, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Lita was predeceased by her brothers, Anthony DiGianvittorio and Nunzio DiJon.
On Wednesday, friends and family are invited to call from 3pm to 7pm at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth St., Derby. On Thursday, her funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10:30am for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in St. Mary Church, Derby. Burial will follow at Mt. St. Peter Cemetery, Derby.
