Lois Thompson Collins

Lois Thompson Collins, age 92, widow of the late Robert H. Collins and resident of Shelton, passed away Sept. 12, 2017. 

She was born Sept. 13, 1924 in New Haven, daughter of the late William & Katherine Schmitt Thompson. 

She spent her married life in Shelton, and upon retiring, moved to Waterford, CT. This past year she returned to Shelton, enjoying her life at Bishop Wicke Health Center. She served as Past Worthy Matron of Azalia Chapter #2, Order of Eastern Star in Stratford, and as treasurer of Fidelity Chapter # 54 of Niantic. She was also a member of The Historical Society in Waterford. She enjoyed cooking, knitting, crocheting, sewing & crossword puzzles, and was an avid reader who enjoyed trips to the casino with her daughter Donna. She was predeceased by her daughter Amber Shigematsu. 

She is survived by her son Robert Collins (Jennifer) of Ft. Pierce, Florida, daughter Donna Owens (Jim) of Derby, grandchildren Kristin (Csaba) Dorogi in West Boylston, MA., Jeffrey Owens (Diane) of Southbury, Stephen Owens of Derby, Lillijane Shigematsu of Wheatfield, Indiana, great grandchildren Quinn & Laszlo Dorogi and Justinian & Alexander Owens, niece Barbara Moore, (Raymond) nephew Richard Wellington (Judith) and cousin Walter E. Smith. 

Private funeral services were held, she was buried in Riverside Cemetery in Shelton. The Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home, 12 Franklin St. Ansonia, CT was privileged with the arrangements. 

The family would like to thank the staff at Bishop Wicke for the wonderful care they gave to Lois.
