Loretta M. Powers

Loretta M. Powers, age 87, entered into eternal rest on January 2, 2022. 

Mrs. Powers was born in Derby on December 30, 1934, daughter of the late John E. Madden Sr. and Loretta Barrett Madden. A lifelong Valley resident, she was employed for many years as a sales associate at the former Caldor in Derby and later at Walmart until her retirement. Loretta enjoyed knitting and spending time with her family. 

She leaves to cherish her memory, daughters, Karen Spring (Martin) of Waterbury and Deborah Fiddler (Richard) of Ansonia, grandchildren, John Merancy (Judy) of Houston, TX, Lori Ann Merancy of Naugatuck, Melissa Gilbert (Mark) of St. Mary’s, GA, Lauretta Fiddler Moore (Ken) of Derby and Joseph Fiddler of Ansonia, great-grandchildren, Zara, Xavier and Rebecca Merancy, Mark and Austin Gilbert and Colin Moore as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, John Madden Jr. and a sister, Agnes Madden. 

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held on Thursday morning, January 6, 2022, from 9:00 to 10:30 am in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. At 10:30 am, a funeral service in celebration of Loretta’s life will take place with Rev. Jeffrey Gubbiotti officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery in Derby.
