Loring (Larry) William Stannard, Jr.

Loring (Larry) William Stannard, Jr., age 80, of Shelton, entered into rest on Monday, March 31, 2025 in his home. He was the beloved husband of 39 years to the late Carol (Murray) Stannard. Larry was born in Bridgeport on September 19, 1944, son of the late Loring William and Ethel Blakeslee Stannard, and grew up in Milford. He was a resident of Shelton since 1969.

He served his country with the United States Navy and sailed aboard the USS Holland (AS-32). Loring was a firefighter at Sikorsky Aircraft until his retirement. In his free time, Larry loved hunting, fishing and exploring the outdoors.

He was the beloved father of Jennifer Stannard, Jacqueline Nelson and her husband Scott, and the late Sherry Coulombe, and proud grandfather of Ben Coulombe. He is also survived by a brother, Kenneth Stannard, and his son-in-law, Don Coulombe. In addition to his wife and daughter, he was predeceased by his companion, Jane Rickel.

Larry was a very kind, gentle, and generous person and was much loved by family and friends. He will be very missed.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Riverview Funeral Home in Shelton, and are private.
