Lorraine M. Gasperini, age 83, of Summersville, West Virginia, and formerly of Derby, entered into eternal rest on November 19, 2023, at Charleston Area Medical Center Memorial Hospital. She was born on July 2, 1940, in Derby, daughter of the late Henry J. and Elsie (Mormile) Gasperini and was a parttime resident of Derby her entire life. Lorraine was very proud of earning her Undergraduate and Masters Degree, while working full time. She spent her career as a secretary for the U.S. Civil Service. As a young Department of State employee, she worked in Lucerne, Switzerland, Bogota, Columbia, and provided war time service at Ton Son Nhut Air Force Base and Saigon, Vietnam. Lorraine loved her faith, family, friends, and dogs, Mitts, Henry, and Elsie.
Lorraine is survived by her loving sister Mary G. Lawrence and her husband Joseph, cherished nieces, Cindy G. Berry and her husband Joseph, Marcia Evon and her husband Steve, and Rachel M. Lawrence and her husband Nathan, and beloved nephews, Raymond Gurdak and Joseph H. Lawrence and his wife Karena. She was predeceased by her sister Arlene C. Gurdak and brother in law, Raymond C. Gurdak.
A rosary prayer service will be held on Monday, November 27, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth Street, Derby. Her Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 212 Elizabeth Street, Derby. Entombment will follow at Mt. St. Peter Cemetery in Derby.
