Louis Greco

Louis Greco, age 96, peacefully entered into eternal rest on November 17, 2017, in the comfort of his home, with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Josephine DiLisio Greco.

Mr. Greco was born in Balzata, Commune di Rogliano, Cosenza, Italy on March 20, 1921, son of the late Vincenzo and Rosanna Guarascio Greco. At the age of fifteen, he came to the United States to join his family in Derby, where he lived ever since. Mr. Greco was the owner of Lou’s Barbershop in East Derby from 1945 until 1985 and following his retirement worked for Hugo’s Barbershop in Huntington from 1985 until 2010. A proud veteran, he honorably served in the U.S. Army during WW 2. He loved to travel, especially to Italy to visit with family and friends. Lou was a member & Past President of the Barber’s Union and East Side Italian American Club.

In addition to his wife Josephine, he leaves to cherish his memory, a son, Vincent L. Greco of Derby, a daughter, Roseann Greco-Garlock (Charles) of Milford, a step-daughter, Patricia DiLisio Reilly (Robert) of Fairfield, cherished grandchildren, Jennifer King-Tecci (Stephen) of Derby, Vince Greco of New York, NY and Meghan Greco of San Francisco, CA, great-grandchildren, Luca and Ava Tecci, sister, Marie Greco Shuster of Milford and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Jennie Cascone Greco and brothers, Guy and Frank Greco. 

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, November 19, 2017, from 3:00 to 6:00 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Monday, his funeral will begin at 9:15 am from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Church in Derby. Interment with U.S. Army military honors will immediately follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery in Derby. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Masonicare Home Health & Hospice through the funeral home.
