Louis J. Skrovanek, age 88 of Shelton, beloved husband of Martha Giannino Jemioto, passed away April 3, 2015 at home with his wife by his side.
Louis was born in New York, NY, November 13, 1926, son of the late Steven and Bertha Slahucka Skrovanek.
Mr. Skrovanek proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II having served on many vessels and stations around the world. After the war, he worked as an engineer for Sikorsky Aircraft for many years until his retirement.
He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 10466 of Huntington, the Shelton Senior Center, the Monroe Senior Center, and a parishioner of St. Lawrence Church since 2004.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his stepdaughter, Diane Sentner of Shelton; sister-in-law, Mary Skrovanek of Trumbull; nieces, Barbara Schwindeman and her husband Derek of Monroe, and Susan Hriczo and her husband John of Newburyport, MA; and stepsister, Annie Walkowski of Florida. He was predeceased by his brother, Joseph L. Skrovanek, and stepbrother, Frank Moravek.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 10:30 AM at St. Lawrence Church, Shelton. Burial with full military honors will follow in Lawn Cemetery, Shelton. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 4 to 7 PM in the James T. Toohey & Son Funeral Home, 92 Howe Ave., Shelton.
