Louis Patrick Merenda, age 80 of Shelton gained his angel wings peacefully on Saturday May 6, 2023 at Shelton Lakes Health Care Center with his loving daughter by his side.
He was born in Derby on June 29, 1942 son of the late Patrick and Sadie (Viggiano) Merenda. Louis was a graduate of Shelton High School. Shortly thereafter, he enlisted in the US Navy and served multiple years in Hawaii. After his honorable discharge, he pursued a successful career as an electrical technician. Louis worked at Pitney Bowes for many years until retirement.
Louis had a magnetic personality and brought a genuine kindness to whoever crossed his path. He will surely be missed by many who knew him.
Lou was survived by his Son, Mark Merenda and his wife Jen Merenda, his Daughter Kristin Calabro and her husband Justin Calabro and their Mom Janet Merenda, his Sister, Mary Jane Sciongay. Louis was also a kind and gentle Grampy to Mya Merenda, Gianni and Giuliana Calabro.
His memorial services will be held on Thursday at 11 am in St. Michael Church, 25 Maple Ave, Beacon Falls. In lieu of flowers, you can kindly make a donation to the Alzheimer Association, https://act.alz.org/site.
