Louis Philippe (Phil) Plante, Sr., age 85 of Shelton, entered eternal rest peacefully at home surrounded by his immediate family on Friday, May 24, 2024.
Phil, born in Quebec Canada on May 22, 1939 moved to Connecticut in the early 1960’s. Phil began his successful construction career as a drywall expert which lead to becoming a renowned custom home developer for many years.
In addition, he built a farm in Hinsdale, New Hampshire to further his lifelong hobby of maple sugaring and pass the tradition down to his children.
He was also an avid hunter and outdoorsman and a member of the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree. Though the outside shell showed great strength and toughness, he had a heart of gold and did anything and everything for his family, friends and dogs.
Phil is predeceased by his sons Denis, Tom and Jeffrey.
He is survived by his first ex wife Marie-Jeanne Quirion of Canada, life partner Sharon Plante, his children, Diane Miller (Ric), Ricky Plante, Kimberly Keefe (Tim), Louis Plante, Jr. (Christine), and Jason Plante (Jennifer). He is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was a presence larger than life and will be deeply missed by all.
Friends may call on Tuesday May 28, 2024 from 3 to 7 pm at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd. Shelton. On Wednesday a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am in St. Lawrence Church, 505 Shelton Ave. Shelton. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Shelton.
