Louis R. Baker

Louis R. Baker, 85, of Ansonia, entered into rest on November 3, 2010, in the comfort of his home. He was the husband of the late Marie H. Deveny Baker. 

Mr. Baker was born in Bridgeport on October 24, 1925, son of the late George and Celina Baker. A resident of Ansonia for 53 years, he was employed as a machinist and then foreman at Dresser Industries in Stratford for over 40 years until his retirement. He was a proud veteran of the US Navy, having honorably served during WW 2. Lou was a member of the Teamsters Local Union 145 in Bridgeport and a member of the Seymour, Derby, and Ansonia Senior Centers. He was a former member of the Fairfield Rod & Gun Club and especially loved spending time with family and friends. 

He is survived by two loving daughters, Lynn A. Baker Ortoli and her husband Fred Ortoli Jr. of Oxford and Sheryl McShane of Seymour, four grandchildren, Steven DiBona of Naugatuck and Jesse DiBona, Nicholas DiBona, and Caitlin DiBona all of Seymour, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Raymond, Jerry, and Arthur Baker and a sister Beatrice Price. 

Friends and relatives are invited to attend his funeral service on Saturday November 6, 2010 at 10:30 am in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. Burial with US Naval honors will follow in Lawncroft Cemetery in Fairfield. Visiting hours will be held on Friday (TODAY) November 5, 2010 from 4 – 7 pm.
