Louis R. “Gigi” Macero

Louis R. Gigi” Macero, age 72, entered into eternal rest on July 1, 2022, at Yale New Haven Hospital Saint Raphael Campus. He was the loving husband of Vivian Perrilli Macero. 

Lou was born in Derby on March 8, 1950, son of the late Nicholas T. and Grace Jeannetti Macero Sr. A lifelong resident of Ansonia, Lou was employed as a group leader for Schick Razor Company in Milford for over 30 years until his retirement. In his hometown of Ansonia, Lou was a member of Charters Hose #4 Fire Department, former City Sheriff, former Chairman of the Board of Assessment Appeals for twenty-five years, served on the Conservation Commission, member of the Democratic Town Committee and First Ward Chairman for twenty years. A devout communicant of Holy Rosary Church, Lou served as financial secretary for its Catholic Men’s Club from 1970 to 2018, treasurer of their annual festival raffle for forty-five years, former chairman of their Parish Council as well as serving on numerous other Parish committees. Lou also served as a charter member and former financial secretary of Holy Rosary council 10537, Knights of Columbus from 1991 to 2015. He was a Fourth Degree member and faithful comptroller of Bishop John J. Nilan Assembly Knights of Columbus from 1997 to 2015. Lou received the St. Joseph’s Medal of Appreciation in 2014 by Archbishop Henry Mansell and also received a Public Service Award from Secretary of State Susan Bysiesewicz in 2001. Lou enjoyed helping out when needed as a former Justice of the Peace. 

In addition to his wife Vivian, Lou leaves to cherish his memory, a son, Jason Macero of Ansonia, a daughter, Rebecca Lydem of Philadelphia, NY, sisters, Elisa A. Macero of Middletown and Patricia S. Macero of Ansonia, grandchildren, Steven, Aiden, Ozzie and Brady Lydem and Kreya Foutes, and sister-in-law, Anita Macero of Ansonia, along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Francis J. Macero Sr. and Nicholas T. Macero Jr. 

Relatives and friends may greet the family and pay their respects on Thursday July 7 2022, from 4:00 – 7:00 pm in the chapel of SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Friday, all are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial, meeting directly, at 10:00 am at Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia. Entombment will immediately follow in Mount Saint Peter’s Mausoleum in Derby.
