Louis S. Bartolotta, 93, peacefully entered into eternal rest on October 30, 2017, at the home of his daughter and son-in-law in Orange. He was the beloved husband of Lillian Aleskewich Bartolotta.
Mr. Bartolotta was born in Ansonia on Dec. 21, 1923, son of the late Anthony and Caroline Fattarusso Bartolotta.
A lifelong resident of Ansonia, he graduated from Ansonia High School in 1941. Following graduation, he went on to proudly serve in the U.S. Army during World War 2. He began his working career as a material handler at B.F. Goodrich in Shelton and later in the maintenance department for the Ansonia Board of Education. Lastly, and most notably, he served as a New Haven County Deputy Sheriff for eighteen years. Following retirement, Lou and Lillian enjoyed spending the winter months in Pompano Beach, FL, where they created many fond memories and lasting relationships. Lou was a communicant of Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia and a member of its Catholic Men’s Club and St. Joseph’s Society. He was also a member of St. Peter & Paul Catholic War Veterans, Ansonia Senior Center and former St. Michael’s Men’s Society.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a loving daughter, Lynny Gagliola and her husband Lucian of Orange, two cherished grandsons, Lucian Gagliola and Jordan Gagliola of Orange, sister-in-law, Myrtle Bartolotta, brother-in-law, Edward Sovinski of Ansonia and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, John, Anthony, James, Frank, Augustine, Dominic, Joseph, Carmelo and Charles Bartolotta and sisters Jeanne Sovinski and Lena Salzano.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral on Monday November 6, 2017, at 10:00 am (PLEASE MEET DIRECTLY) at Holy Rosary Church, 10 Father Salemi Drive, Ansonia, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Inurnment with U.S. Army military honors will immediately follow in Mt. St. Peter Mausoleum in Derby. There will be no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Lou’s name may be made to Holy Rosary Church.
