Louis T. Velleco Sr., 88, of Ansonia, entered into eternal rest on May 1, 2014, in his home. He was the beloved husband of almost 65 years to Lovie Spak Velleco.
Mr. Velleco was born in Derby on Jan. 28, 1926, son of the late John and Elsie Velleco. A proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, he honorably served during WW II. He was employed as a meat cutter at the former A & P Supermarket for 45 years until his retirement. Lou was a member of the American Legion Post 16 in Shelton.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, William J. Velleco of Ansonia and Joseph R. Velleco of Durham, grandchildren, Louis T. Velleco III, Denise Velleco and Nicholas Velleco, daughter in law, Risa Velleco of Seymour and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Louis T. Velleco Jr., brothers, Peter, Vincent and John Velleco and sisters Mary Lombardi, Josephine Johnson and Julia Landona.
His funeral service will take place on Sunday May 4, 2014, at 1:00 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver St., in Ansonia with Rev. Jeffrey Gubbiotti officiating. Visiting hours will take place following the service until 3:00 pm, at which time U.S. Navy military honors will be accorded. Interment will be private.
