Louise A. DeGennaro, 91, a lifelong resident of Derby, entered into eternal rest on October 31, 2016, at Shady Knoll H.C. in Seymour. She was the beloved wife of the late Louis P. DeGennaro.
Mrs. DeGennaro was born in Derby on May 6, 1925, daughter of the late Angelo and Cleonice Ragaini Bertozzi. A graduate of Derby High School in 1942, she was employed at Bradlee’s Department Store in Derby for over twenty years. Later, she worked in the cafeteria at Derby High School and then St. Mary-St. Michael School in Derby. There, she also assisted with the Little Angel’s before school program. Louise was a communicant of St. Mary Church in Derby and a member of its Women’s Guild. She was also a member of the Derby Senior Center, A.M. Club in Derby and enjoyed playing Bingo.
She is survived by a loving son, Paul DeGennaro and his wife Nancy of Derby, a loving daughter, Anne Grant and her husband Deacon Frederick of Clermont, FL, a sister, Norma LaPointe of North Branford, cherished Meme to Rachel Grant (Michael McDonnell) of Scarsdale, NY, Sean Grant (Stacy) of Charlotte, NC, Sara Laviolette (Steven) of Fairfield, Gregory DeGennaro (Izabella) of Derby and Michael DeGennaro of Derby, great Meme to James McDonnell, Natalie and Taylor Laviolette. She also leaves several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters, Nora Mongillo and Rose Bennard.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday November 3, 2016, from 4 – 7 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Friday, her funeral will commence at 9:15 am from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Mary Church in Derby. Interment will immediately follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery in Derby.
