Louise D. (Dunaj) Tereskiewicz, age 98, peacefully entered eternal rest in the early morning hours of May 30, 2023, in the comfort of her home, with her loving children and family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph W. Tereskiewicz Sr., who golfed professionally as “Joe Terry.”
Louise was born in Derby on February 17, 1925, daughter of the late Andrew and Anna Klesyk Dunaj. A lifelong Derby resident, she was employed at Sikorsky Aircraft during WW2 and later as a bookkeeper for TEAM, Inc. in Derby for many years, until her retirement in 1989. Louise was a devout Catholic and a lifelong communicant of St. Michael Church in Derby. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed watching sports, especially baseball “Go Red Sox”, golf and football. Above all, Louise deeply loved and cared for her family and took special joy in the company of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She leaves to cherish her memory, a son, Joseph Tereskiewicz Jr. of Derby, two daughters, Susan Tereskiewicz and her husband Donald Gonyea of Oxford, and Janet Carol Tereskiewicz and her husband Robert Sorensen of Milford, grandson, Alexander Sorensen of Milford, granddaughters, Heather Gazlay (Brian) of Wallingford, Amy Parker (Steven) of KY, Stacey Tereskiewicz of GA, Kaitlyn Russo (Dino) of NJ, great-grandchildren, Regan, Tanner and Lane Gazlay, former daughter-in-law, Carolyn Patrignelli, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, George and Andrew Dunaj and sisters, Helen Wolniak, Julia Geoghan, Anna Radcliff, Lucy Jalowicz and Mary Ann Dunaj.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family and pay their respects on Thursday, June 1, 2023, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Friday, her funeral will begin at 9:15 am from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Michael’s Church in Derby. Interment will immediately follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery in Derby.
