Lucas “Dick” Byrd Jr., an 84 year old Ansonia resident and husband to Gale Gatison-Byrd, passed away June 4.
He was born March 23, 1935 in Darlington, South Carolina, son of the late Luke and Viola Smith Byrd.
He worked for Ansonia Copper Company and was a faithful member of the Greater Evangel Temple C.O.G.I.C., Ansonia.
In addition to his wife, he leaves to cherish his memory his 3 sons Darry Jamison of California, Lin Byrd of Ansonia & Aaron Byrd of Hartford, his daughter Danyell Jackson of New Haven, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his son Glenn Jamison, sisters Hallie Byrd, Laura McMichael, Lucille Lincoln, Frances Toney, Mary Laney, Viola Sinclair, Estelle Byrd and brothers Charlie Byrd and Willie Peter, George, James & Tommy Smith.
Funeral services were Saturday, June 15 at The Greater Evangel Temple C.O.G.I.C., 38 Jackson St., Ansonia. Burial followed in Pine Grove Cemetery. The Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home, 12 Franklin St. Ansonia CT., was privileged with the arrangements. (http://www.jenkinskingfh.com)
