Lucia Andrea Arriagada Nunez, age 91, of Derby entered into rest on Friday, September 3, 2021 at her home with her loving family by her side. She was the wife of the late Jorge Enrique Varas Lacoma.
Lucia was born in Santiago, Chile on May 24, 1930, daughter of the late Romulo Arriagada and Emma Nunez and resided in Derby for 22 years. She was a Physical Education teacher in Chile for many years until her retirement. Lucia was a skilled knitter and enjoyed making her own clothes. She loved socializing and enjoyed taking ESL classes. Most of all, she cherished spending time with her family and loved being a grandma.
She was the beloved mother of Jorge Varas and his wife Ximena, loving grandmother of Moises Varas, Ximena Varas and Javier Varas, great grandmother of Rose Bellagamba and sister of Alicia Arriagada. Lucia was predeceased by her granddaughter Carolina Varas, her brother Romula Arriagada and her sister Marta Arriagada.
Service will be held at the burial site, at the Riverside Cemetery, 308 River Rd., Shelton, Saturday September 18th at 10:00 AM
