Miss Lucille Atwood, age 87, of Seymour, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 21, 2010 at the McLean Home in Simsbury, CT.
Lucille was born in Derby, CT on November 17, 1922, the daughter of the late Clarence and Harriet (Crocker) Atwood.
She had resided in Oxford and Seymour, CT for most of her life.
Lucille was an administrative assistant in the metallurgical department at the former American Brass in Ansonia, CT for 44 years before her retirement. She was a lifelong and faithful member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Oxford, CT and also a member of the Ladies Altar Guild. In her retirement years, she was a dedicated volunteer tax preparer for the elderly and poor working with VITA in the Valley and with the AARP Foundation.
Lucille was also a member of the Oxford Garden Club, Audubon Society and Quilting Club. She enjoyed traveling, crafts and her pet cats. One of Lucille’s greatest gifts was to teach her family and friends life’s special values. She was always able to find the good in everyone and to make each person feel special and at ease.
Lucille is survived by her devoted family including her twin sister, Vivian Atwood Douillet Reed of Ponce Inlet, FL, nieces and nephews including Linda (Douillet) Williams of Ponce Inlet, FL, Roberta (Schultz) Lengyel of Shelton, CT, Kathy (Schultz) Paul of Weatogue, CT, Richard Schultz, Jr. of Southbury, CT, Eric Schultz of Westborough, MA, and many dear great nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her sister, Elaine Corrine (Atwood) Schultz.
