Lucille Ayoub, 83

Lucille Ayoub, an 83-year-old lifelong resident of Ansonia, entered into eternal rest July 15.

She was born June 10, 1928 in Ansonia, daughter of the late Solomon & Ringeous Freije Ayoub. Lucille graduated from Ansonia High School, class of 1946. Growing up, she worked for the family store, Ayoub’s Grocery Store on Wakelee Avenue in Ansonia, later working for Dictaphone Corp. until retiring in 1980. She also worked for Pitney Bowes & Union Trust Savings Bank. She was an active member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Bridgeport, where she also served as board member, and was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star for more than 50 years. Lucille was also an active volunteer at Griffin Hospital in Derby and the Valley Chapter of The American Heart Association. 

She is survived by four nieces, Paula DiGiovanni of Seymour, Carrie Hinson of New Mexico, Elaine Marshburn of California and Lorraine Castaldi of Florida; and two nephews, Thomas Shepard of Florida and Phillip Ayoub Jr. of Texas. She was predeceased by four brothers and two sisters. 

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 19 at 10 a.m. at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Bridgeport. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia. Friends may call on Monday, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., at The Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home, 12 Franklin Street, Ansonia with Trisagion services beginning at 7 p.m. (www.jenkinskingfh.com) In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to The St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or St. Nicholas Orthodox Church through the funeral home.
